New Dartford Crossing Charges
Dartford Crossing charge
From 30 November 2014, you’ll no longer pay at the barriers when you use the Dartford Crossing. The new payment service is called Dart Charge.
Dart Charge
The government are introducing a new remote payment system called Dart Charge to reduce congestion at the Crossing, and this means you’ll no longer pay at the barriers. The Crossing will still be free to use between 10pm and 6am. There will be a range of ways to pay, and you can get a discounted rate by registering an account.
If you don’t want to open an account, you will be able to pay for crossings on the website from 30th of November 2014 when the charging scheme goes live. You must pay to use the Dartford Crossing between 6am and 10pm. You must pay by midnight the day after you cross.
How will I pay?
From 30 November 2014 you will be able to make one-off payments:
- Online at www.gov.uk/dart-charge
- By phone on 0300 300 0120
- At one of thousands of Payzone retail outlets
You’ll be sent a Penalty Charge Notice if you don’t pay by midnight on the day after you made your crossing.
The penalty charge is £70 and must be paid within 28 days. It’s reduced to £35 if you pay within 14 days and increased to £105 if you don’t pay. You also have to pay the crossing charge along with a £15 admin fee due to the paperwork involved.
